Enhancing Spanish Skills with Library Picture Books

Ms. McGroarty’s Native Spanish class recently visited the library for a fun and meaningful literacy activity! Each student selected a picture book, reading through engaging stories on a variety of topics. As they read, they recorded sentences from the book onto a graphic organizer. On one side, they wrote the sentences in English, and on the opposite side, they translated them into Spanish.

Collaboration was key—students helped each other when they encountered unfamiliar words, strengthening both their reading comprehension and translation skills. This activity not only reinforced their bilingual abilities but also encouraged teamwork and a love for reading.

What a fantastic way to celebrate language learning in our library!
